Product Review: SkinnyMe Chocolates

Skinny and Chocolate in the same breath?
What does this mean?

While I don't necessarily encourage the pursuit of "skinniness", I do encourage chocolate consumption. SkinnyMe Chocolates are another choice of sugar free chocolates which means people who limit their sugar intake for whatever reason, can still enjoy these chocolates!

It's Keto-friendly, suitable for diabetics or people who count calories or macros. It's sweetened with erythritol and stevia. Some of their defining characteristics are:

  • Zero Sugar
  • Gluten Free
  • No Malitol
  • Easy to digest
  • Won't spike blood sugar
  • Delicious!
SkinnyMe has a range of chocolates in individually wrapped squares and truffles. I was sent a box of assorted squares to try!

Flavors of the Squares: Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, Bold Dark Chocolate, Dark Roasted Almond, Dark Chocolate Strawberry, and Dark Chocolate Mint. They also have Orange and Raspberry flavors but these are not included in the Assortment box.

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt - The dark chocolate was smooth and rich, just the way I want it to be. What I really appreciated was how present the saltiness was. If you like sweet and salty, this is the chocolate for you! I think this may be my favorite!

Bold Dark Chocolate - Simple and classic, this is sure to satisfy your chocolate craving. I love to have a piece of dark chocolate every day and this would be perfect for that! It's richer than Hershey's dark chocolate but not too bitter.

Dark Roasted Almond - This flavor was studded with tiny almond chunks! I was impressed at how much almond was on this small square. The almond added great texture and a slight saltiness! Yum!
So many almond chunks!

Dark Chocolate Strawberry - Fruity chocolates are not my *all-time* favorites but I thought this was executed very well! I smelled the sweet strawberry upon unwrapping this square. The strawberry flavor was present but not overwhelming. I thought it was just the right hint of flavor!

Dark Chocolate Mint - Dark chocolate and mint is a timeless combination that you can't really go wrong with. This square smelled like an Andes mint and tasted similar. The mint was a little more subtle than I'm used to in mint chocolate but it was still good!

The macros for the squares are 45-50 calories 4f/6c*/1p
*.5-1g net carb

The truffle line up includes: Bold Dark, Velvety Mocha Dark, Raspberry, Sea Salt, Sweet Cherry, Orange, Strawberry, and coming soon - Salted Caramel and Peanut Butter! These sound and look fantastic and from my experience with the Squares, I just may have to get my hands on these!

Overall, I think these taste like a quality dark chocolate with no weird aftertaste. They are individually wrapped, convenient treats and you can sign up for a subscription so you never run out of chocolate!

I can't wait for the release of the Salted Caramel Truffles!

Comments

  1. I also signed up for the $4.95 shipping for the "free trial" that ended up costing me an additional $35. The wording in their advertising is deceptive and misleading. And their customer service absolutely sucks! DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY!! Save yourself the money and the aggravation of dealing with them!

  2. The chocolate tastes nasty and the free sample is a scam. They will sign you up for monthly delivery which is very difficult to cancel. Getting a refund for chocolates not received or dissatisfaction with product is nearly impossible. Buyer beware, this whole company is a scam.

  3. The chocolate tastes okay if you let it melt in your mouth. The biggest problem I had was that the chocolate was so poorly packaged the squares had melted and hardened back probably several times in transit. I found very few "squares" in the box. If they are going to charge that much, the packaging should be better. I have received other manufacturer's sugar free chocolate (with better taste and lower price) which are packaged in reflective bubble wrap with instructions on how to preserve the chocolate once it arrives - one says freezer for 12 hours and the other says refrigerate for 1 hour - do not open the box until this stabilization has been completed.

  4. The squares taste pretty good but don't waste your time with their "peanut butter cups". They cost over $30 for a bag of 22 very small cups, and though the texture is very nice, they unfortunately taste like, well, nothing! There is no real taste of either peanutbutter or chocolate. Skinny Me needs to go back to the test kitchen with those and make them taste like something. Seriously. how do you screw up chocolate and peanutbutter?? Waste of money.
